Tanabe spochan PolandChanbara - this Japanese term describes a battle with sticks which the young Japanese used to play with. The samurai fencing master, kaicho Tetsundo Tanabe transformed it into a new, safe sport, which can still be great fun way to transfer us back into the times of the Japanese samurai or the European knights.

It does not require any expensive armor, there are no complicated and unrealistic rules and the fighters' health is never in jeopardy. A fighter is supposed to hit his opponent, as fast and as well as he can, with a soft weapon which is a substitute for a Japanese sword, a spear, a naginata, a knife etc. A confrontation of different fighting styles is possible, as well as one of Japanese and European weaponry. Is there anything more exciting than the possibility of wielding a sword and a shield against a "samurai" armed with a Japanese sword? Isn't the possibility of a safe confrontation between a two-sword fighting style and a yari - Japanese spear - fascinating? Isn't this what many enthusiasts of old times and chivalrous weaponry, young and old alike, had in mind?modern Japanese swordsmanship

Who is chanbara for? It is trained by children, teenagers, adults, boys and girls alike. A very dynamic workout, a fight where you have to be constantly on the move and adjust your tactics, speed and attack zones. A comprehensive, dynamic effort which allows one to proportionally shape all his motor functions, which develops one's personality, valor, feel of distance and reaction time. All of this with joy and a feeling of mutual safety - both of oneself and one's training partner.

Since chanbara currently encompasses many different weapons, categories and competitions, the name spochan, which is created from the combined words of 'sports' and 'chanbara' is now used.

The creator of the chanbara sport, the Japanese swordsmanship master Tetsundo Tanabe called chanbara the gates to the world - a world of friendship, entertainment and learning other nationalities and cultures.
